Designed for learners wishing to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to provide appropriate care and manage life-threatening conditions, minor illnesses and injuries. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

How long will it take?
To complete this qualification learner should expect to undertake 8 hours of learning, with a minimum contact time, excluding breaks of 6 hours typically over 1 day.
Course overview
The qualification covers a range of essential emergency first aid topics including the role and responsibilities of a first aider, recognizing signs and symptoms of injury and illness, managing unconscious casualties, cardiopulmonary (CPR) and responding to incidents, such as choking or external bleeding.

Certificate validity
The Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is valid for a period of three years. After this period, individuals wishing to retain their status as emergency first aider must re-qualify.
